Sunbathing, walking in the open sun, and visiting a solarium all seem safe. Under the sun's rays, we get vitamin D and also acquire a beautiful tan. However, frequent exposure to sunlight leads to skin photoaging. What is this process, and how to deal with it? We asked to tell the beauty specialist Alexandra Chudakova.
Photoaging of the skin is a change in the skin's structure under the influence of solar radiation and artificial sources that emit UV rays. The solar spectrum has three types of radiation: infrared, visible, and ultraviolet. UV radiation destructively affects the surface of the skin if you do not use SPF-protected products. Under the influence of ultraviolet rays, the skin fades and ages prematurely.
The face, neck, décolleté, and the outer side of the palms - these areas of the skin are most susceptible to the effect of photoaging since it is these parts of the body that are most often exposed.
Most susceptible to photoaging:
People with fair skin. The fact is that the darker a person's skin is, the more melanin is contained in the layers of his skin, and the more melanin is produced when exposed to sunlight. Melanin is a pigment that "absorbs" UV rays, increasing the protective properties of the skin.
Those who suffer from diseases of the endocrine system. People with thyroid and adrenal diseases are more sensitive to UV radiation.
People whose work involves constant exposure to the sun. In both sunny and cloudy weather, the skin is more or less exposed to radiation. Because of this, its structures gradually weaken and collapse.
Those who often rest and spend time in direct sunlight. The risk group for the same reasons as in the previous case includes people who have been under the open sun for a long time.
Women during pregnancy and lactation. During this period, the production of melanin does not occur correctly, the natural protective functions of the skin weaken and, under the influence of UV rays, age spots appear on the skin.
People who frequent tanning beds. During fake tanning, the skin is also exposed to UV rays.
Dermatologists and cosmetologists worldwide insist that it is better not to leave the house without applying a protective cream to exposed skin areas, especially to the skin of the face. Protective agents contain substances that absorb UV rays from the sun. Otherwise, the skin is exposed to the effect of photoaging and ages prematurely.
Signs of skin photoaging:
Hyperpigmentation;
Dry skin;
Dull skin tone;
The presence of vascular changes in the skin;
Many small wrinkles on the face;
Thickening of the stratum corneum;
Change in skin turgor;
Decreased elasticity and firmness.
One way to combat this change in your skin is with the miraculous BBL treatment.
BroadBand Light (BBL) is a system based on the Joule multifunctional platform of the American company Sciton for removing blood vessels, pigment, acne treatment, and laser hair removal using the energy of high-intensity broadband light.
Due to the energy of infrared light and filters with a specific wavelength attached to the device, each of which affects a particular problem. The impulses are absorbed in the skin by the pigment melanin, blood pigment in blood vessels or chromatophores that secrete acne-causing bacteria, as well as water, the heating of which stimulates fibroblasts to synthesize new collagen. The number of procedures depends on the age and the degree of the problem.
